The United States has stated that it will abandon
mediation efforts if there is no progress in the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire.
Trump’s previous promise to resolve the issue in 24 hours has, like many of his
statements, once again fallen flat. Neither Zelenskyy nor Putin is willing to
ceasefire, and there are simply no conditions for negotiations between the two
sides. Over the past three years, Ukraine has built a formidable army of
millions, equipped with the most advanced weapons and strong combat capabilities.
To date, aside from most of Luhansk being occupied by Russian forces, the other
three eastern regions remain in a stalemate with both sides controlling parts,
with Russia barely controlling about 25% of Ukraine’s territory. In three
years, Russia has made no significant further progress, losing a million troops
and 70% of its equipment in the process.
Despite NATO’s various restrictions and chronic
ammunition shortages, the Ukrainian army has grown stronger, even launching
attacks into Russian territory. For Putin, a ceasefire is meaningless unless
the Ukrainian army is disbanded, while Zelenskyy’s side would never agree to
cede territory. Just a few months ago, the U.S. government was the leader of
NATO, firmly supporting Ukraine’s resistance against foreign aggression. Now,
it has astonishingly become Russia’s accomplice. Trump has indirectly dismantled
NATO, turning the U.S. into a “private security company” that charges fees to
provide nominal protection to allies, while Ukraine, the victim of aggression,
has become the target of suppression. As a strategic spy for the former Soviet
Union, Trump has finally revealed his true colors after returning to power.
The ongoing international trade war is merely a step to
support Russia’s agenda, diverting global attention from Putin as the aggressor
and preparing for Russia’s full reintegration into the international community.
Ironically, Russia has been exempted from the trade war, with even small
African nations facing higher tariffs than Russia. Trump’s first step to “make
America great again” is to abandon NATO, followed by using the trade war to
detach the U.S. from the global trade system. Finally, under the pretext of
bringing manufacturing back, he will cause consumer prices to rise, accelerate
inflation, and lead to the collapse of the dollar. This will achieve the goal
of reviving Russia and making it strong again while leading the U.S. toward
decline. However, after three years of war, Europe is now capable of
independently countering Russia even without the U.S. Support for Ukraine from
the UK, France, and Germany has significantly increased, while the Russian
military, due to prolonged attrition, has reached a critical point.
With Europe lifting various restrictions, Ukraine could
unite with certain countries to launch a full-scale, genuine counteroffensive.
Unless the U.S. directly intervenes militarily, Russia’s defeat is almost
certain. Trump’s pro-Russia bias in pushing for a so-called ceasefire has
provoked global outrage. In reality, apart from halting military aid and
issuing verbal threats, he has no better options. At this point, he has become
a marginal figure. Europe can independently support Ukraine, and the U.S. has
been sidelined from NATO, becoming an isolated entity on the international
stage. Both Russia and Ukraine resent his mediation attempts, and there was
never a foundation or leverage for negotiations to begin with. Thus, the U.S.
finds itself in an extremely awkward position.
Of course, this aligns with one of Trump’s objectives:
to strip the U.S. of its global leadership through various means, rapidly
weakening the country politically, economically, militarily, and
diplomatically. Domestically, by chanting vague slogans like “America First”
and fostering personal worship, authoritarianism, and media control, he can
garner partial support no matter how reckless his actions are. Given time, the
prosperous days of the U.S. since World War II will be gone forever!
